To celebrate 20 years of the BlueCross RiverRink, the Delaware River Waterfront Corporation is working with some of Philadelphia's most creative individuals to transform this popular Philadelphia attraction into a true Winter Wonderland for both families and adults. The 33 days between Thanksgiving and New Year's Eve will be a festive winter celebration at Penn's Landing. A pop-up holiday village will feature food, music and shoppes. Award winning landscape architect David Fieraband of Groundswell Design, who developed the PHS pop-up park on Broad Street, will create a winter garden oasis featuring fire pits and hanging metal installations. Winter comfort food will be re-invented by famed Chef George Sabatino. Along with food, local beer and holiday cocktails will be served under a massive 400 person warming tent created from recycled shipping containers. The father of video projection mapping, Philadelphia based Ricardo Rivera of Klip Collective, whose latest installation was at the 2013 Sundance Film Festival, will be creating a must be seen Holiday light show. To complete this new village, shoppes will feature handmade gifts by some of the best indie crafters from Philadelphia and beyond curated by Erin Waxman and Megan Brewster, the ladies behind the award winning Art Star Craft Bazaar and Art Star Gallery & Boutique. All together, creating one of the most unique holiday experiences in the entire country.
We were asked to curate the handmade portion of the event & have chosen 12 talented makers from Philadelphia & beyond each day to install mini pop up shops. Each day will bring a new mix of artists selling handmade jewelry, t-shirts, plush, accessories, paper goods, housewares, original art, prints, baby + kid items, ceramics & more. Shop for the perfect gifts to give this holiday season all while enjoying an array of festive treats and activities at WinterFest!
